a year of songs: number 32 vs. 2 (32.5)
- Thursday, August 6th: Lots of miles over prairie leads to
songs about the highway, literally and metaphorically. So here's a song for
long-haul relationships that you can count on, even when the road is
a mystery. Number 32, a second version, with Geoff
Carlisle on Viola: "You
Made Me Smile Again".

the 52 song project
I recorded this weeks song on the mountainside in this woodcarving shack. It's got a nice feel to it, mostly because it makes me think of the man who used to preside over those who came here to make shapes in wood. I made a dolphin once. But it was talking to Wayne Jarvis that made it great. He liked to talk about my songs, and he made me feel like a real woodcarver except with words and melodies. So I sat under Wayne's cap and recorded Number 32. He's no longer with us, but his memory is thick, especially in this shack.
