a year of songs: number 29
- Thursday, July 16th: I'm back in my home studio again,
but I have a song that came right from the Black Hills. David Lee Brown and
I had a chance to finish what we started last summer - a song for Ed Jindra.
He was my friend, but David was like a son to him. A keener sense of our
place in creation you'll never find. Ed had peace in his life and he wanted
you to have it too. Here's Number 29, "Steady
Man":

the 52 song project
The project survived my travels in the West. I wasn't sure how that was going
to go, but recording songs on a mountain side and atop a big rock turned out
to have
its own charm.
It also taught me again that song ideas are always there, if I pay attention
and have a litle faith. The '52 Song Project' continues to liberate me from
trying to be perfect, but still tests me every week. I'm hearing a lot about
not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good these days in political
debate. For me, that just means that if we wait for something of genius before
we act, we're pretty useless. So I'll try to make good songs for 52 weeks,
though genius may never come around.
