I'm in the Black Hills of South Dakota this week. The Needles are just across the valleys and ridges from this vantage point. Mount Rushmore is just beyond that. It's a place I've been every summer for 17 years straight. Each time I fall in love with the Black Hills again.

David and Lisa Brown love it here so much they committed their lives and careers to living here for good. In an amazing series of circumstances, they have acquired 80 acres of heaven that they will nurture and preserve, including the original homesteader cabin (1870s). Check out this view (their eventual back porch). David and I have written many songs together and maybe there are a few waiting for us here someday.

A little celebration for some unrelated good news: the documentary "Paving the Way" for which I composed most of the music, won a "Telly Award" for its soundtrack. Brandon Wade, the filmmaker/author, said I can consider this award mine. The DVD is available on Netflix and can be purchased at Best Buy. The music is on iTunes here:

    The Project:
52 songs in 52 weeks from January 1 to December 24, 2009. I'm going to attempt to write a new song (or tackle old unfinished songs) at a pace of one per week.

I'll record them and post them here, as well as the 52 Songs facebook group and ReverbNation.com. I'm hoping you will take a few minutes to listen and/or download them (for free) and occasionally give me feedback. A few more details.
