Tuesday, Dec. 30th: I wanted to be able to post the
first song on January 1st, so I got to work early. After a few false
starts I decided to just sit down in front of the mics with my guitar
and play. A few minutes later I had a beginning and a general idea for
a lyric. Sadie, Buelah and Alta are women I'll never forget singing with.
They taught me songs and also lessons in attitude.
Thanks
to everyone who started off 2009 with me. I really appreciate the many comments,
insights and opinions (see commentary).
When reading them, I found myself instantly nodding my head and getting what
you were
saying. So let's keep this going wherever it might lead.
THE PROJECT:
I'm going to attempt to write a new song (or tackle old unfinished songs) at a pace of one per week. I'll record them and post them here, as well as my facebook
page and ReverbNation.com. I'm going to convince myself that you will take a few minutes to listen and/or download them (for free) and occasionally give me feedback.
52 songs in 52 weeks. Beginning January 1st.
A few disclaimers and ground rules:
1. I may cheat and do two songs some weeks and take a week off.
2. I may change something in a song as I hear your feedback, and as I get used to performing it. If you like the initial version, save it because it might change.
3. I'll try some new things. I may experiment with sounds and song structure. You're not going to like all my experiments.
4. At some point, I may move a song over to iTunes or Popcuts.com and sell it. Then I'll probably remove the free version.
I'll include the lyrics and a story if it's relevant to the song. Please suggest changes but don't be disappointed with me if I don't make the change.
THE KEY: I can only do this if I believe that others are in on this
project too. I need to hear from some of you or I'll never make it. And some
songs won't be that great, but I'll post them anyway.
